Cause supported in 2022

In May 2022 the Desi Ramblers, as part of their annual May challenge walk, raised funds towards residential facilities for the Shishukunj International School in Bhuj, which is a part of Shishukunj International Foundation. All the funds raised via MEMC for the Dartmoor challenge have been used on the residential facilities.

Shishukunj International School is located 15km from Bhuj. A lot of thought and care has gone into providing a holistic education that focuses on physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development of the child. The school based amidst nature, with aesthetically designed learning spaces and a caring and dedicated set of educators has now grown to 215 students from Kindergarten to class 10 (Aged 3 to 16 years). 

Some of the students are from the economically weaker sections of society. However, it has been a challenge to educate these children in an English medium school as there is no exposure to the language in their home environment to support language acquisition, and thus becomes a hindrance to learning in other subject areas as well. Shishukunj therefore propose starting a residential set up which would help in providing after school support for these children.
